English for Healthcare Communication

You may have passed the exam and still need stronger English at work.

This coaching is for internationally trained healthcare professionals who are already working — or preparing to work — in an English-speaking country, and who feel their English or communication is still holding them back professionally.

You may be competent and experienced in your role, but still feel less confident than you want to when speaking with patients, colleagues, managers or senior staff.

Your ability may be stronger than your English currently allows other people to see.

What we can work on

Patients and service users

Explain clearly, ask appropriate questions, check understanding and respond to concerns.

Colleagues and teamwork

Discuss cases, ask for clarification, express opinions and contribute within a team.

Senior staff and progression

Raise concerns, explain problems, prepare for interviews and take on more responsibility.

Real situations. Purposeful practice.

We can base our work around the situations you genuinely encounter at work: patient explanations, telephone calls, meetings, case discussions, misunderstandings, difficult conversations or interviews.

More than grammar.

Professional communication is also about tone, clarity, confidence and judgement. A sentence can be grammatically correct but still sound too blunt, too vague or not quite right for the situation.

Start with a conversation.

Tell me about your role, the situations you find difficult and what you’d like to do more confidently. I’ll tell you whether I think I can help and what individual support might look like.
